'Verehrter Freund! ...
Short description:
Wilhelm Ahlwardt (1828-1909), Professor of Oriental languages at the University of Greifswald, informs Eduard Glaser (1855-1908) on the status of publication of Arabic manuscripts sold by Glaser to the Royal Library, pointing out that his description differs in many respects from the one provided by Karl Vollers (1857-1909), assistant at the Royal Library in Berlin between 1882 and 1886.

Remarks:
In the 1880ies, Wilhelm Ahlwardt was entrusted by the Prussian Ministry of Culture with the task of cataloguing the Arabic manuscripts held by the 'Königliche Bibliothek' (Royal Library) in Berlin.
By 1887, the 'Royal Library' hosted 264 Arabic manuscripts acquired from Eduard Glaser, 23 of which had been purchased after Glaser's first journey to Yemen (October 1882 - March 1884) and 241 after Glaser's return from his second trip to Yemen (April 1885 - February 1886).
